Sustainable Living

Description

Feeling guilty about your environmental impact, and want a convenient way to make a few changes? Kickstart a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle using our daily challenges program. Our app makes it easy for you to adopt simple green habits that are good for you and good for the planet. We take the guesswork out of environmental sustainability, suggesting small steps that you can take daily as part of a 10-day sustainability challenge, across the areas of food, energy, waste, transport, and consumer goods. Our system is backed by behavioural science, with each challenge acting as a prompt to help you change your day-to-day behaviours to become more environmentally-aware, while lowering your ecological footprint. Features in this version: When you sign up for the app, you'll be asked if you want to commit to the 10-day challenge program. Each day you unlock a new challenge, which you can swap out for an alternative challenge if you choose. For each short daily activity, you can view short step-by-step instructions on how to complete it and why it matters. Set reminders to receive prompts to complete each challenge activity and mark them off as completed when you're done to create a winning streak. You can also go back to mark off any challenge activities you've missed. Then share challenge activities and your final score with your friends and colleagues. This flagship app is just a starting point. To learn more about The Neighbourhood Effect and our mission to combine technology and behavioural science to help strengthen communities and mitigate climate change, head to our website: http://www.neighbourhoodeffect.com.au. As featured on ABC News Online: "Making small changes doesn't require a lot of brain power but we tend to overthink things and worry they won't actually contribute to helping the big picture. In actual fact, those smaller actions can really build a sense of motivation and encourage people to be more mindful of what they're consuming and why." “Our ultimate goal is to reduce the cognitive barriers that prevent people from sticking to green habits, something behavioural science research has only begun to understand in the past few years.” The Neighbourhood Effect is supported by the ACT Government under the Community Zero Emissions grant program and ING’s Dreamstarter program.
