  • Lost Alexa control for music

    SO FRUSTRATED!! Things were fine until this update to S2. Alexa works to control my lights and responds to search and play music on my Amazon Unlimited Music service. BUT, nothing plays. I can play via the app but nothing via the Alexa voice command. Alexa says it's playing but nothing. Replacing it in my living room with the Echo I have in the bedroom until SONOS figures this out. I hope the Developers read these and figure out what you need to fix.

    ‘Upgrading’ to S2 broke my system in the same way others have mentioned; I’m just cycling through the same request to sign in and update my system. Cannot play any audio. :(
  • Speakers amazing app/setup/software horrible

    The software engineers need to be fired. Get your act together. I have tons of devices connected to wifi and this app is by far the worst experience for setting up the speakers. Thank god the speakers are awesome or I’d throw it in the trash.
  • Screw Sonos

    So I updated all my devices before I tried to run this. Now I have over $1000 worth of Sonos speakers that will not connect. Resetting does not work as now it will never connect to my WiFi. (Yet it all worked fine before s2. If I had a choice I would never buy another Sonos product again.

    We love Sonos... have 6 speakers around the house... but now after the update, my phone shows 1 “bedroom” speaker option for tunes, my son’s phone shows 2 speakers options “patio” and “living room”, etc. not one phone shows all 6 speakers in our home. and you cannot “select” or “add” other speakers/rooms NOR can you control volume! ridiculous... don’t do it! now this once loves system is just an expensive set of 6 pointless speakers.
  • WAY Slower Than Old App

    Don’t upgrade if you don’t absolutely have to. Not only did I have similar trouble to everyone else of actually getting my system “Updated”, but now the app just operates insanely slow. Slow to group, slow to ungroup, and extremely slow to open the app itself (especially when you need to turn off the alarm in the morning)

    Now our entire home system is disabled. Neither one of our phones on either app will connect to our speakers! We have $1200 worth of unusable speakers right now!

    I was initially pensive about upgrading given the issues I read in others’ reviews, but I jumped in anyway and had no problem...changeover took less than a couple minutes and system migrated smoothly from 1 to 2.

    Wait till it actually works! Wasted 3 hours getting it to recognize my devices. Turn it on the next day and the same issue again. I have all new products.

    Received Sonos as a Christmas gift. The constant updating since January is just unnecessary!!! Sonos1 is compatible but won’t allow me to play my music and on every attempt, it’s asking for me to download the newest app Sonos2 which is also not compatible. I just want to listen to my music without all the drama!!!

    Out of 2 play bars, 5 play 3s, 1 Sonos 1. Only 1 play 3 updated. The rest are in limbo. Can only access the one on S2. Can only access 2 on play 1. Completely bricked my system. Thanks for nothing. How much do Bose cost. Asking for a angry friend.

    This app is the absolute worst thing Sonos could have done. I have Sonos speakers throughout my house, literally in every room and in some cases mounted high and hard to access. This app update has rendered all my speakers useless!! Every single time I try to access or use a speaker the app requires me to reconfigure or re-setup. The whole value prop for Sonos is that it’s wireless and “it just works”. Well that’s not the case, what good is it if every time you want to listen to music you have to get on a ladder and either unplug/replug the speaker or even worst pull the speaker down and hard wire it into the router. I have over 2000 dollars in Sonos and since this app update I’m now relegated to listening to music on cheap Bluetooth speakers. Don’t even get me started on my home theater and having to re-pair all speakers EVERY SINGLE TIME we watch tv. As someone who has evangelized Sonos, disappointed doesn’t even begin to describe my feelings. If Sonos doesn’t get their stuff together and update this app or let us go back to the old one they will have lost one of their most vocal and loyal customers. How something of this absolute awful quality could make it through their QA teams is beyond me. They either don’t care, or know that they’ve got us hostage to their ecosystem and are exploiting us, in either case it’s a bad look.

    I’ve been a SONOS user and fan for over six years. My system (4 speakers) has moved with me across three apartments, and I could count on one hand the number of problems I’ve had. Until this past month, when the avalanche of problems started. Most of my Spotify playlist now play 10-15 seconds of a song and then skip. I’m constantly seeing “Cannot Connect to Device”. Speakers cut off for no apparent reason. And being a superficial diva, the design of the S2 app is awful. Poor color choices. Hard to navigate. Sound quality is great when it decides to work. Can’t knock that.

    Sound is amazing. Setup was not super easy with one of the speakers but took about 1 minute to set up the other three. So many features that I can’t list them all here.

    Software updates generally means ew features, improvements, etc. Not this one. Components that came up with no issues previously is intermittent at best with this new app. Horrible update.

    The Sonos 2 app is a disaster. Can’t believe the issues I’ve had connecting to the Sonos Amp. It cannot stay connected and as a result, I constantly have to reset the app. These problems never occurred with the old version of the app.

    Either won’t connect to wifi, missing speakers (play:5) that I can’t set up even when I connect with Ethernet, or rooms not showing up. Terrible. Please fix!!!

    I was worried by all the bad reviews and held off on updating until my old app forced me to. When I updated, everything worked fine. I have a Playbar, sub, and connect:amp, all purchased in 2018.

  • A big problem - do not upgrade

    As several reviewers have stated this new app is a bundle of problems. At least in my case it did not cripple the system. After accepting the EULA you are presented with a Sonus screen that will do nothing... totally non-responsive. For the amount of money they charge for hardware they can do better on the software.

  • S2 decreases functionality

    Modest system (2x One SL, 1x Amp connected to turntable) was working great. App updated, now I am getting a message that the system will not work wirelessly with WiFi extenders, so no music in my kitchen as of today. The app now says “some Sonos products are connecting to the group via WiFi extender ... you need to hardwire the product to the router to the group.” The only variable that changed was the app, so I am calling BS on this uninformed reduction in functionality.

    I think the direction the new SONOS player is headed will be better than the way it is now. Most people won’t have an issue if they stream their music. However, if you are like me and you played music stored on your iPad to your SONOS speakers ... do not upgrade. The S2 app does not allow you to play music stored from iPhones, iPads etc. unless your speakers are AirPlay capable. Once you upgrade your speakers to the S2 app ... you can’t go back. Now I have a some speakers that can’t be upgraded to the S2 controller and some speakers that won’t play on the S1 controller. I want to be able to roll back to the S1 for all my speakers, but it won’t let you do that.

    They refused to allow me to play songs I own via iTunes, I rolled with it because supposedly some work around existed I wasn’t savvy enough to figure out. Now they’ve entirely bricked me. Honestly mostly disappointed because it’s a potentially great product that has gone the easy and cheap route. Right yourself Sonos, please.

    I own 6 Sonos speakers which I’ve bought over the years. I love them. Let’s be clear I am a big Sonos fan. That said, I hate this new app which doesn’t work with any of them. And doesn’t message that or provide any useful indicators as to why. Also not clear there is much benefit of new features. Seems like a sneaky ploy to sell new speakers.
