    A great education!!!
  • Kestrel issue with Drop that never worked.

Spent $19.99 on the in app purchase to import data from my Kestrel Drop 3 and it was not even close to accurate as they advertised. Reached out to developer multiple times, returned 2 of my Drop 3 units (at my expense) and even gave them contact info to Kestrel. Problem is still not fixed. Was told they would get back to me. it’s a huge pain to deal with these AH!! Dissatisfied to say the least!! Oh yeah, the ballistics side of the product is awesome!! Gets only one star though.

I lost all my favorites and truing data. Talked to customer service on phone. He didn’t know how to fix because was not familiar how to obtain the favorites from cloud. Wanted me to call Apple to figure out and then call him about the fix. I’m Done!
  • A waste of money

Not user friendly at all compared to many of the other calculators out there. It is poorly designed and organized. It should be simple. Enter in your rifle data and save it. Enter your ammo data and save that. Then on your main page choose your rifle, choose your ammo, and then enter in station data and distance then press calculate. BUT IT’S NOT!!!! I spent 2 hours of my life that I will never get back, plus $10 to buy the thing hoping for something better than the Shooter Ballistic App. Hell the crap calculators put out by the Ammunition manufactures is better than this. I would rather go back to doing it the old way with pencil, paper and a slide rule, along with DOPE charts. More crap to pack but at least it is there and useable.

Great app. Very accurate data output and user friendly!! The guy designing it has asked for user input on snipershide forum which is awesome. Best app for ballistic you can find IMHO.
  • Need data sharing across devices

Just got a new device. Pretty frustrating that all of my profiles were deleted and did not transfer over even though I have iCloud for the app setup. Need to get that fixed as well as ability to share profiles across multiple devices.
  • Support is alive!

I purchased a copy in hopes of being able to measure the distance using my iPhone. But unfortunately after a few attempts trying to reach support they have yet to respond. Well after a few days I received support and all is good! I hope support stays strong because this app does wonders.
  • App developer is a turncoat

    By Stubs Magee
Title says it all. The developer of Ballistic AE Jonathan Zdziarski thinks that semi auto center fire rifles with detachable box magazines should be reclassified under the National firearms act of 1934. Which will regulate the rifles the same as a fully auto machine gun. He’s an IDIOT
  • Weather an reticle issues

I love the app but for some reason the weather is not syncing. And when I custom set a reticle is appearing oval or is not centering for the range finder.

  • Doesn’t work with Kestrel Drop!

It seems to connect fine with an Elite 5700, but it’s a no-go with my Kestrel Drop. Support has been lacking and it’s become very frustrating!
  • Great for load development and competition

I use Ballistics AE exclusively across multiple rifles, calibers and bullet designs. I also shoot monthly in F Class competition from 300 to 1,000 yards. Generally, I can get a 1st shot cold bore hit in the 10 ring using the data generated by this app. I also use the target feature to calculate score and group size when doing load development. I highly recommend this app for both hobbyists and competitive shooters. Keep it updated and I’ll keep using it

I started shooting 850 yards and beyond and needed something for come ups on my scope. First time out I rang the gong at 850 three times in a row without any adjustments. Hooked right there.
  • Amazing support

I was having an issue getting the current atmosphere to update. I sent an email on Friday evening asking for support. Saturday morning I received an email from Curt. I was amazed that the developer responded so quickly especially over the weekend. I switched the weather service provider from NMI to NOAA and it works perfectly. I really appreciate the support, makes the purchase price all worth it About the app..... I’m new to calculating ballistics but have really enjoyed trying different ammunition’s and being able to see the results. Being new to the whole everything I still found the app easy to navigate and use. Thank you for creating this app. I’m enclosing my response from the developer in case anyone else is having the same problem. Hi Darvin, Thanks for reaching out! We are working on a bug in the app causing this issue. Until we have this fixed, you can go in to the ballistics settings and try switching to another weather service provider like Geo or NMI. You may need to restart the app for this to take hold. Curt

I've been using this app for MANY years now. Its given me solutions to shots from Maryland to Oregon and all along the way. But I finally found is first issue.... it's phone/ pad only. Sometimes you just want to sit on the couch and play with load recipes and see what you can get. Doesn't change the fact I love the app and will continue to use it... but I'll give it a 4.9 merely because I have to use my phone to do this.
  • App works well but..

    By Book mom
I like the app and believe it to have a lot of positive attributes and tools to really dial in your rifle. I do how ever believe for the price of the app the company does a poor job on keeping up with all the new factory loads that are coming out. As of today the app was last updated 3 months ago and very little was done to update factory loads. One of the hottest calibers out there is 6.5CM and the selection is slim compared to what you can find on the selves at Cabela’s and Sportsman’s Warehouse. If this part of the app gets an update this is a 5 Star app.

I bought a new phone and my data did not transfer over to my new phone. I can see it all on my iCloud it just won’t convert over. Iv sent many requests for help but the developer does not seem to care to respond!!!! 😡

Great software but after 5 months of trying to get something accurate out of it, I'm deleting it and not looking back. I use other ballistics software as well but this train wreck of a software makes it more difficult then it has to be. Anyone saying is easy to use is bold face lying on here.
  • Better than free apps

    5
    By Dghyams
I was initially using the ballistic app that came with my scope. However, after doing some reading on long range shooting, I realized that the app was probably limited on its calculations. After comparing the free app made by my scope manufacturer with ballistic AE, unnoticed a 1" discrepancy at 250 yards in their calculations. Ballistic AE's calculation was the more accurate of the two. Thank you for such a useful product.
  • Excellent for any experience level!

    5
    By 6.5Creedmoor
I started out long range shooting on this app and after some experience have been able to get first round impacts to 1060 yards. The customer service responded in less than 24 hours on an issue I was having, and had an immediate fix. Just in time for range day tomorrow. If you are in cell service, it is a great way to avoid buying a kestrel etc. to get dialed in. Or get weather typed in before you leave and that will get you on target!
  • No holdover

  • Easy to use and excellent results

I’m not a great shooter and had never been into long range shooting. Never shot passed 500 yards. I bought a 6.5 Creed and decided to try out long range shooting but didn’t have a clue how. I bought this app and watched a couple videos on how to use it. Took it to the range and slowly worked my way out past 1000 yards! First shot I attempted at 1075 yards was a hit. Very accurate data. I’ve gone to 1200 yards using this app alone.

This is the best ballistic calculator I’ve ever used, with all the features it offers it’s worth every cent. Instead of flipping through paper shooting logs, they’ve made it easier to reference bullet drop at distance and measuring targets with my reticle.
  • Great for dialing in long range shots, but complex UI

    4
    By pbakker1
Using this app for long range (up to 1100 yards) shooting. Given the right input, the calculations are spot on and easy to read. Great to keep next to your rifle to dial in elevation etc. However, the UI is a little hard to use, with similar setting in too many different places. Once you figure it out it’s great though.
  • Hate this app. Going back to Strelok.

    1
    By RamTech228
The UI isn’t nearly as intuitive as Strelok Pro, it costs more, AND then they want you to spend another $20 in order to be able to connect a Kestrel to it. Strelok does this without spending any additional money. I’m deleting this app and wish I could get a refund.
  • Wow!

    By allenryan1
I was hesitant to purchase this due to the price and haven’t regretted it since. It does a very fine job and not that difficult to use. You are able to enter many different conditions and options making it versatile. I often find myself playing around with it even off the range. Great app for anyone with a chronograph.
  • My “Go To” portable ballistics app

    5
    By sensai515
I have been using this app for a few years now, and I have removed the other external ballistic apps from my phone and iPad. This one does it all, and then some. It is easy to learn and use. Most of all it is accurate. As a handloader, it gives me what I need for the range; plus it has the factory loads for comparison. Can you tell that I like it??
  • Best Ballistic App, Period

    5
    By TomP226
First, Ballistic AE was the first iPhone Ballistic app I ever used; spring 2014. Second, I now have ten including multiple versions and free proprietary apps on my phone. However, all my loads, reloads and factory, .22 LR to .308, are in this one. Why? It is easy to use, but as comprehensive as you need it to be. Dialing my current atmospherics in all but guarantees a first shot hit out the load's effective range. Misses belong to me. Thanks for a great product.
  • Intuitive and accurate

    By NateDizo929
This is a great app. Easy to use and accurate. Huge database of factory ammo or you can enter data for your hand loads. Easy to start with basic settings, essentially a grab and go. Select load, zero, max range, sight height, then click “calculate trajectory. You can start including things like spin drift, air density, barometric pressure, multiple wind readings at various ranges, corealis (Don’t know how to spell that) effect, target speed, etc as you become more comfortable with the app. Easy to pick a projectile from a list and customize things like ballistic coefficient (a slight overstatement by manufactures do help bullet sales) muzzle velocity (factory loads assign an assumed value for each round but easy to change for how fast it is out of your gun) etc. I believe you can even true your velocity based on the long range drop of your bullet but I haven’t used that feature yet. This does have the ability to sync with a fancy high dollar kestrel... but my kestrel was $50 on sale plus a coupon I think I paid $25. It gives me accurate wind where I am. The other data I pull off my weather apps which have accurate temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure readings. Also outputs down range velocity and energy for those guys who want to harvest game while their bullet still has a specific amount of foot-pounds to deliver on impact. Very accurate calculator. Highly recommended for anyone shooting long range regardless of experience with ballistic calculators. Great from beginners to experts, bench shooters to hunters. More than I would have expected for the price.

  • Great ballistics app

    By Longhornssuck
I have several long range (1000+) loads saved as favorites in this app and they are very accurate if I do my job. The only things I wish they’d do is make it where you could choose to display both moa (or mils) and the number of clicks in the trajectory chart. I also wish they’d make the trajectory chart headings float so you could see the column heading all the time as you scroll down.
  • Need Apple Watch support for perfect score

    By 44punk
Highly recommend this app for long distance shooting and hunting in varied terrain. Have used this for making hits out to 1K yards and hits on game out to 700 yards. Very impressed with the feature set. Only improvement I could ask for is Apple Watch integration, honestly surprised it hasn’t been done yet. Usingmy watch for a quick dope without having to dig out the phone would be an invaluable addition.
  • Accurate

I was truly amazed at the extensive library of ballistic models in the app. It will make you a better shooter by learning the basic bullet trajectory and then advance into calculating with the atmosphere. Pretty awesome
  • Worst navigation ever

    3
    By Bigdaddycsi
This app has the features but the navigation is ridiculous. It it so unintuitive you need to relearn it every time you open it and even then some features like loading a default seem impossible to figure out
  • Lots of crashes

    2
    By flyingtexan86
I’m trying to like this app, but the UI isn’t laid out good and the app crashes often on my iPhone 8 Plus. I bought it because StrelokPro doesn’t currently do graphs, something Ballistic AE can do. The built in bullet database is good and had most all of the 6.5 and 308 bullets I use. Due to the crummy UI and crashes, if it weren’t for the graphs, I’d ditch this.

Entering the ballistic data from various ammo types really helped me improve my scores at the National Matches at Camp Perry last summer! Using this app with a chronograph and reloading my own ammo seriously improved my accuracy. It’s amazing what a little math can do!

This app is legit! It is as good if not better than any ballistics program out there. I love the truing feature in case your muzzle velocity input was a little off but so far I've only had to use it once. Based on experience with the load info from factory loads that come with the app and inputting the load data for reloads the trajectory is spot on!
  • Awesome app for long range shooting!

Been using this app for 2 years. It is the best ballistics app I have used. Awesome! A must have for the long range shooter.
  • An excellent tool for precise shooting

    5
    By Shootermgee
I have had this app for five years and still don't know ALL of the ins and outs but as I learn more about long range shooting I understand the tools and how to use them and have seen first hand how excellent this tool is. It's exhilarating to punch in the data, shoot a 100 yards, read how many clicks to turn the scope, and then back out to 400 and hit within 5 inches of where I last shot! This has been the only app I found worth reviewing!
  • Wow!

Prior to now, I have been using the Nikon SpotOn Ballistic calculator. It’s a little buggy but it has done what I needed. Plus, I have Nikon BDC scopes on a couple of my rifles and SpotOn calculates hold-over corresponding to little circles on the reticle. But... I wanted something more. I read the glowing reviews but agonizing over the $15.00 price. Finally, I decided to “pull the trigger” and purchased Ballistic AE. All I can say is: Wow! I can’t imagine a more capable calculator. While I’ve only been playing with it for a day, I have not yet found a bug (unusual in my experience). Interestingly, the trajectory numbers are slightly different from SpotOn’s. Note: Given my skill level, the differences are academic but for a real contender in 1000 yard competition, those differences become meaningful. The bottom line is: I’m happy I ponied up the $15.00 and I know this app will give me lots of pleasure. As a final note, after learning my way around in Ballistic AE, I’ve been looking at Kestrel weather meters. This is the ultimate irony because, remember, I agonized over the $15.00. Here’s a heads up about something I did not understand until after the purchase. There is a separate iPad app that takes proper advantage of the iPad’s larger screen. The iPhone app runs fine on the iPad but it has the typical 1x/2x button that just enlarges a screen designed for the iPhone. I would still have purchased the iPhone app (because I typically would not take my iPad on a hunt) but I wanted everyone to know about the difference.

This app has been accurate to a click or two at ranges from 100 to 1000 yards. And the HUD is easy to use, and give me accurate wind corrections when you need them. I have use this program for the load data for 5.56 to .308.
