    Please add dark mode
  • Offline languages, dark mode

    By Daniel Springer (iOS Dev)
    - Allow batch downloading multiple languages at the same time more easily, instead of taking user out of page for every language. A “download all” button would be great. - Remember what languages I have offline, so if I delete and reinstall the app (or reset my phone) they automatically download again. - support iOS 13 dark mode
  • The Website is more useful than the app

    By Adam Rooks
Because you can use the speak part to help teach you the word or say it for the other person if they have bad eye sight and need glasses to read it on your phone
  • I don’t like new version.

    By Cadssa
I don't like instant translation, because this is bad, so I usually use image translation. However, I now find that I cannot find the "Import" icon and the "Stop Instant Translation" icon.
  • Great Tool

    By letfelicityfly
This app has opened new doors for my business. I run an adult day care center and a lot of non English speaking families have been interested in our services. This app allows an easier way to communicate and it helps my staff understand what our clients are saying so we are able to care for them. We use the microphone and so far it has translated pretty well.
  • I LOVE THIS ❤️

    By wjehfhfjfbfjdhsveidg
My grandma lives in Romania and she is coming to visit in TWO days! But she doesn’t know English and I don’t know Romanian. This app is cool because I can say anything I want in English, and then I tap the sound icon and it says it for me! Goodbye long, confusing words, hello google saying it instead. The only thing I think the devs should fix is that when I put it in Conversation Mode to practice, I have to say the word in English instead of typing it, so sometimes my phone thinks I’m saying a different word then what I want to say. But besides that, I recommend this app and I love it! I just need to remember to bring my phone everywhere and keep it charged so I can talk to my grandma when she visits.
  • App of the century

    By eyeofmahsa
I think the features of this application are countless and it is now determined to bond the global villagers easier. Thanks to the industrious staff and scholars of the app, I proudly hope the app stores embrace them by titling this app as the app of the century. Since it has the ability to make the people of different nations and cultures communicate much easier than any other time before. THANK YOU GOOGLE

  • Just an awesome app, but please better integration with iOS

    By Vtsaran
Please please use whatever means possible to better integrate with iOS. For example, I was surprised to not find a widget for Google translate or even a Siri shortcut. Essentially, I’d be very grateful to see a feature as similar to androids Tap to Translate as possible. Thanks for reading!

    By stephen hoover
    Wow google good job!

    By AJ Hutcheson
Yup. I said it. This is not the app I was expecting. This app doesn’t have the best translation, nor accurate. I speak very fluent romanian and the translation is 50% accurate, if I may say. This is why I gave this a four star. I know, I know, tech is not what you expect these days, but maybe you can make these a little more accurate, but, the rest, perfecto.

I have have been using google translate website for years and just recently discovered the app on android and enjoyed it. My husband how ever, Who’s phone I’m using to type this review is using an iphone and I told him about the app. It’s cool on iOS but I a small difficulty when chatting on whatsapp and Facebook, the “pop up when you copy feature” is not on the iphone app. This really helps with the switching back and forth within apps to translate a single text. Generally, google translate should have like a male or female selector when translating, Everything is masculine and I can’t really talk to friends or people I just met when they read texts from me sounding too masculine .... Overall great app, love everything you guys are doing Keep up !!
  • No way to report incorrect translations

    By puppuppup
For example, it translates 牛腩, which means beef brisket, to burdock, which is totally irrelevant. There is no obvious way to report incorrect translations.
  • Should make a version for Apple Watch!?

    By Caiogdg
This app is amazing, but it should have a version for Apple Watch. I would appreciate if I could download it in my Apple Watch!
  • Google translate

Why can I tap to translate on iPhone????
  • Can you put Derpmind on the job?

    By markbyrn
For a company that touts AI like Deepmind and becoming invincible in strategy games like Go, Chess, and diagnosing eye diseases, one would think Google could make the translate app that's as accurate or more accurate than a human translator. I hope for the day when one could have a practical & accurate working conversation, or have a real-time translation of a podcast or news broadcast. As it is now, the app has glacially improved in the last 13 years to be just marginally passible in translating a web page but often with numerous errors.
  • Translation in Arabic

    By Nick k Charlotte
When I want to translate to Arabic it doesn’t work it gives meaning for one attempt then I should turn the app off and open it to use it for one time. this issue I started experiencing this issue when I did update to the latest iOS for my iPhone. Disappointed.
  • Input text form X button has been broken for almost a month

    By Krikorf
Often times the X button on the input text form is not functional. I tap it, it animates, but the text still remains.
  • Could be much better

    By Skyskoo
In Japan and I really like the fact that English translates into kanji AND transliteration so I can pronounce it. An audio check of the proper pronunciation is useful too. Turn the phone sideways and it has the kanji in large letters for someone else to easily read. HOWEVER, try to translate Japanese transliteration into English and it just spits out the same word. Useless. Also the camera reading of Japanese characters does not work At. All. Much room for improvement. Limited as it is.
  • I hate this app

    By alkhamedes
i write a word on it and it translates a bad word even i turn on the disappear bad word
  • Not have a kurdish sorani

  • Google translation app

The google translation app is horrible it isn’t doing what I want it to do and it is not working how I expected it to and I think it needs some serious improvement.
  • Please add Cantonese!

    By sjayro
I’m a native English speaker but I work in a job where I encounter Asian languages daily. Google Translate has been instrumental these last 5 years in helping me grasp how to speak and read Mandarin and has helped me sharpen my pronunciation and better understand. I can now carry on full conversations in Mandarin and I am currently learning to read and write simplified characters. While I have also used this to pick up a phrase here and there in Japanese, Korean and Thai, one language I noticed you don’t have is Cantonese. It’s not just you, Cantonese is much less accessible when it comes to learning apps. I’ve tried them all and they’re nowhere near the caliber needed to learn it proficiently. If you could please add Cantonese in the near future, I would be forever grateful. At this point I’m using YouTube videos to practice pronunciation and it’s not as comfortable. Obviously I know you get reviews all day long and Cantonese may not be high on the list. I feel it is an under utilized language that many would benefit from learning it. Overall, your app is great and very useful to me. Hopefully I’ll be using it more often in the coming future.

  • MIcrosoft and Google translators rock!

    By Archi95
If you are visiting a place where they speak a different language, or you simply want to communicate with someone in their language, this is the tool to use. Overseas, I recommend having this program and Microsoft translator. Both of them are great —AND FREE—, and although neither one is perfect, sometimes one does a better job translating than the other. Also, make sure you download the languages before traveling. You never know if you will have internet access when you need it, so better to have the language package available. These translators are also getting better everyday. First time I tried them, they weren’t great, but were helpful. Nowadays, they do a great job in some languages. Spanish, Portuguese, French and Dutch modules are great, Chinese (Mandarin) isn’t that great, but did got us through. Again, download both, google and Microsoft sometimes they complement each other. While I had my wife’s phone with Google and mine with Microsoft, we got pretty high success. I guess sometimes one app gets some accents better than the other. Again, both apps are greatly recommended for traveling overseas. Thank you Microsoft and Google for making this a free App!
  • Very complicated to understand

    By PCMMB
I only tried this app a couple of times and have found it useless. Tried using the camera feature and it didn’t pick the English translation at all. Unless I’m not understanding something correctly. I’m deleting it.
  • Pretty Good

    By Valkyrie M.
Overall, Google Translate is quite a good app. But I wish it could be more accurate, as translators are not always right.
  • My phone was compromised!

    By LeaneMC
Downloaded this and the next morning my email and texts were full of security breeches for unsuccessful login attempts to ALL the apps I have on my phone! DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS! I also have credit monitoring via credit wise and was immediately notified of a name that did NOT match mine, attempting to open credit cards! Thank GOD for credit wise. I now had to change my email, every login, password, and request all new cards, etc. Hopefully this is where it ends. So disappointed in Google. Step your game up to these hackers!

  • Won’t erase

    By Vicki 660..5 ..,
I love this app, but for the last few weeks it won’t erase the “from” language (on top) when I press the X. I have to “select all” and erase manually. It will erase the “to” language (on the bottom) which isn’t necessary. I rely on you. PLEASE FIX IT. Thanks.
  • iOS 13 iPhone 11 Pro 💩

    By Phillip Colligan
When you press x to clear the text, it will not clear. I have to manually delete each letter. Please fix! 🙏🏻 Happens on English —> Spanish but haven’t tested others.
  • Not what i need

    By Srudge920
This app has most known languages, which i can do a google search for, without the app. It doesnt have any of the languages that I actually need. I need Burmese, Karen, Karenin, and Kinyarwanda. These are the most spoken languages for the refugees that have settled here in my state of Iowa. I don't need this app for well known languages. They are super easy to find out. I need the app for translation that is the regular translation for this city and state!
  • Good but issues remain

    By poundingCode
Translations seem to get confused in gender pronouns if two people are mentioned in a sentence, of if the sentence structure is moderately complex. Words like pig pen translates to a writing instrument for pigs where pigpen is pig sty. Keep your sentences simple and strive for clarity and precision of word choices. Avoid metaphorical phrases.
  • Uzbek Language

    By NickPark2018
It says on google translate that their is a Uzbek speech recognition translation but when you go to google translate you can’t hear the translation for Uzbek language plz fix its not activated the sound icon for Uzbek language and plz add more languages for google translation and also if you can update google translate more often with new languages and more new options all the time that would greatly be appreciated :)
  • Bad App

This app has no clear definitions.
  • Great Except for Snorting Sounds After a Translation

    By FrankWC
Use this app to communicate with my elderly mom in English to Chinese. Because of her Alzheimer’s, she has forgotten how to speak English, and growing up in the US, I never learned how to speak Chinese. The only weird thing is that recently, after an English to Chinese translation, the app makes a strange snorting sound. I hope the fix it soon.
  • Needs work

    By conservative homo
From my experience, it works pretty well with European languages. However, it doesn’t translate Asian languages very well; specially Chinese and Japanese.
  • One star for notification hack

    By Dustin C.M.
They figured a way to bypass the ability to disable notifications in iOS. How convenient. Typical Google spyware.
  • I really love to use this app

    By Nina jalal
I wish there is Kurdish - sorani please
  • Would rate 5

    By Bangheart
But it keeps crashing and freezing up while using and when you press on the X to erase something it freezes up and refuses to work
  • A bug?

    By EBbrahma
Recently (past several months at least?) the X to clear the input field when typing something often doesn’t work. You are left having to delete character by character. Is this just my phone or is it a bug? It’s really annoying and needs to be fixed! Otherwise, it’s a great app that I use daily.
  • 👎🏼👎🏼

    By N.J.Alsaeed
Many times I try to delete the hole sentence by pressing the X but it doesn’t work. When I record my voice it does not translate any word from it literally nothing! And when i try to import a picture it zooooms in a lot and I can’t choose what to translate!! The app before was really goooood but now it socks .
  • Image translation from imported image removed

    By dfs90aa
Was using heavily the image translation from imported image but it seems to have got removed. I think this was from a company they acquired called worldlens which was a fantastic technology now disappeared. Not sure if it’s from being in China and therefor google removing features to “please” someone...

I’ve been trying for hours to get through my Spanish assignment, but I just couldn’t understand the text so I downloaded Google translated and within 10 min. I was finished with the worksheet, and I was sleeping like a baby.

  • I’d give TEN stars if one feature was added...

    By Tokyo Tammy Lynn
To The Powers That Be : There are several products out there that have pretty much caught up to the capabilities of this one. However.... coming from one living abroad, the feature that would make this a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ app would be the ability to have a pdf translated. Whether viewed as a web address (preferred) or having to save it in the file browser(doable but should be a last resort)... would 100% set the app above the rest. Everything is PDF these days... from online manuals to school assignments, to terms and agreements.... and you have a huge customer base consisting of people “living abroad” in every country. We are lost in PDF hell..... I’m sending an S.O.S. on behalf of us all!
