  • Could be great but it’s not

I’m a student and use excel for my finance classes. The app recently started crashing ALL THE TIME. Way frustrating
  • Update made new bugs

    By HSM25
This is an app that I use daily. Today, after the most recent update, right in the middle of me using Excel it starts acting up. When in the draw option it crashes when I try to use the eraser. Not to mention that when using the eraser whatever you are trying to erase comes right back once you hit a pen/ pencil option. I erased the app and re installed. I restarted my IPad. I even went to the Apple store for help and no one could figure out what else to do. Please fix!!

  • Still Semi-Broken/Almost Unusable

    By Steven Zyler
BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN 1/15/19 FIFTH update in a row that hasn’t resolved the issue of the current file not staying open for very long and needing to be downloaded and reopened over and over again each time Excel is brought to the foreground after a short while, which several others reviews have mentioned. Sooo disappointing... but I haven’t found a good enough iOS alternative to replace this. Yet. I just wish I could downgrade to the version just before this issue appeared. 👎👎👎
  • It’s okay

    By the0nly0ne
A problem I’m having is when I use quotation marks in a formula. It tries to input a fancy quotation instead of a plain text quotation, and breaks the formula. Stop doing that across all office products, please. It’s 2019, not 1996.
  • Excel is the best

    By Ah Bl
runs well on all of my devices and is splendid.
  • What happened?

    By His Most Serene Majesty
Where are all the useful buttons? Where is the save button? Why does the same spreadsheet keep popping up every time I open the program? This version is a mess.
  • Nice but needs work

    By Randall King
Why, every time Microsoft Office apps are updated, is the download 200-300 MB? Has Microsoft not heard of delta updates? Otherwise, good app!
  • Almost Great!

    By gggg7277756
By far the most faithful Excel on iOS! I have moved very complex spreadsheets from laptop to iPad without problem. Issues: 1. Anomalous behavior when operating with intermittent WiFi. Gets confused when moving between full Wifi to No Wifi to Wifi but No internet to full Wifi. Sometimes hangs. Sometimes just exits. Might be better to let user control net access to avoid Excel dealing with network connectivity errors. 2. Lack of VB/Macros precludes sophisticated spreadsheets and those with UI built using buttons and other controls.
  • Why do I suddenly need a Office 360 subscription??

    By Ya, right.
I like being able to access my excel files from my iPhone. Works great for simple editing and updating. But suddenly I can not edit an excel file that I had created on my laptop and had been able to edit it on my iPhone before. It opens read only and when I try to save it to another name or location it does not allow it because I now must have an Office 360 subscription. I never had one to begin with. I have a one drive account, but that does not get me around this. WHY do I suddenly need an Office 360 subscription? It’s MY file; I created it OUTSIDE of this iPhone app. WHY are you holding me hostage? I can’t find an explanation for why this happened and why I now need the subscription. Google Sheets seems to work just fine and I am now using that instead. Are other Office apps going to do the same thing to me? Incidentally, if you get stuck by this, I finally got around not being able to write the file anywhere by mailing the file to myself from inside the app and then I opened it with Google Sheets.
  • I want to learn more about EXCEL

    By c.vini.m
It’s a very useful TOOL 🛰 it guides you throughout the app. It teaches you how to use it step by step how to create templates for what you need so it’s also very convenient. If you create a template for your daily expenses • ex: what you expend by priority laid out for you by how much of what’s important you expend. •ex: TIME•EATING•exercising•WORKING• How much I expend in...A DAY -A WEEK- A- MONTH A -YEAR A -DECADE -2 DECADES...of what I care about. That is how I measure my life. And “not for nothing. But” this app really helps me accomplish that.
  • For viewing on iPads only unless you like frustration

    By stick with windows
Simple functions do not exist in the iPad version of excel. Such as duplication of a sheet, pasting, etc. I use excel daily and even automate test equipment processes with it, but try to setup a multiple sheet workbook... forget it.
  • Garbage... won’t even run in iPad Pro.

    By Crewman No.6
No kidding... iPad Pro 2.... never gets past loading screen. Garbage.
  • Cannot fill down on mobile

    By epictyson
After messing around with excel for the past week, I’ve been trying to make data tables quickly and efficiently by creating an equation for one cell, then dragging it down (on pc) to apply the same equations to the other rows. However, this wasn’t possible on the iPad, and all in all, I had to use my laptop frustratingly.
  • Handy to have my budget on my iPad

By good grief, is that name taken
Now I am able to keep track of my monthly budget continually on my iPad instead of having to go to my computer in my den. I am all for making life easier.
  • Excel review

    By Swoopbrown
Love the app, except for one annoying thing: whenever I leave it for even a short period of time without closing it, when I return to it, it opens a workbook I haven’t opened for days...very frustrating!

Very good app. Close to PC level. Bueno
  • Difficult to use seriously

    By JimC27
Whether you’re cutting and pasting, or formatting, or setting up formulas; this version is hard to use - nearly unusable. OK in an emergency when you absolutely need to do something on Excel, but don’t have your laptop around. For everyday use it’s extremely frustrating.
  • Pay more after I bought office professional?

    By Shermanl
Go screw yourself microsoft. This used to be free and I understand needing to charge for it but excluding those paid $$ for Office Professional? Really? Too easy to go to Google Sheets.
  • Outstanding

    By Quincy7HV
Well thought out layout, smartly designed to work well on phones and tablets. Be sure to take the tutorial to learn all the easy tricks (like the difference between circles and squares when selecting more than one block - very clever)!
  • Weird Tool Bar, etc.

    By DoubleN58
While I am glad to be able to use Excel on my iPad Pro, I was very surprised by how poor the app is. For instance, you would think that frequently-used commands such as adding a row to a sheet would be a part of the toolbar, but that’s not the case. It’s irritating to have extraneous clicks, and I am disappointed it doesn’t more exactly mirror the Excel I have experienced on my desktop at work. I am also bothered by the fact that I have to hook up my detachable keyboard every time I want to use Excel, rather than simply using the touchscreen, as I do for almost everything else.
  • Does not integrate with desktop Excel

    By IrishRN83
The most frustrating aspect to this app is that you cannot interact with Excel files that you have manipulated with most equations on the desktop version of Excel. Unless you can keep your Excel files exclusively with iOS or exclusively with the desktop version, you will be constantly frustrated.

I love the convenience of having Excel on my iPhone. With the iCloud, I can easily retrieve spreadsheets on all my devices.
  • Can’t edit spreadsheets

    By SquirrelyMyer48
I’ve been messing around for hours trying to use a template sheet to do my time cards and it WILL NOT let me edit the sheet. Stays in “read only”. I’m paying for a subscription so what’s the point if I can’t even do anything with templates. Been watching videos and blogs trying to figure it out and nothing is of any help
  • Absolutely Awful

    By John Zajaros
If you are looking for the same performance you get when using the desktop version of Excel, look elsewhere!
  • Some of the iOS limitations are puzzling

    By e-book lover
Overall, I’m very happy to have the convenience of using Excel on my iPad. I’m not a very sophisticated user, so the stripped down version is mostly workable for me. That said, some functions don’t seem to be present at all, and it’s puzzling why they aren’t included in the iOS version. I keep getting a ‘circular reference’ error in one spreadsheet, for instance, and can find no way to locate it using the iOS app. I finally went to my PC to resolve the error. Since all of Microsoft’s dubious ‘help’ seems to refer to the PC version, looking up ‘how to’ information can be an exercise in frustration. If there’s a chart that tells you which functions aren’t included in the app., it should be prominently displayed so as to avoid the many wasted minutes looking for something that just isn’t there.

It seems that I now need to buy office 365 if I want to continue to use Mac office 2014
  • Simple

    By Kayla CF
It’s basic and helps with simple tasks but it has limits and I am unable to do things that I can do on my other laptop that has excel.

  • Excel for tablets

    By Captain UA
Cant change headers from app. Cant delete some books. (I am not allowed). I made spread sheet books. Teaching Explanations are poor and dont work.
  • Missing basic functionality

    By Mysocialis
Missing the ability to sort. Missing the ability to select multiple row/columns at once. Etc. How hard can in possibly be to just move this stuff over. Super disappointed in another Microsoft app. Why do you insist on getting hammered in your ratings before you’ll make fully functioning apps?
  • Love the app

    By Writearevirw
Easy to use and access using the Cloud. Love it.
  • 유용한 제품입니다

  • A shell of Excel

    By notamathmajor
I consider myself a power user of the desktop version of excel, but with this app I struggle to build anything more than a basic table. So many features are left out it’s barely worth having installed, if the preview tools in Outlook/Mail weren’t so bad. Terrible app if you love Excel, decent app if you don’t know what it is and don’t need to do anything complex. Emphasis on ANYthing.
  • Buenísimo
