Not free. Though it says “get”
  • The app is ok

    By Halfwaytomygoal!
I’m a lab elementary teacher and I was looking for some apps that would help get my own children off on the right foot for reading! They did enjoy the app, however my daughter became bored quickly with the sight words part of the game. They enjoyed the different songs, books, etc., however they have to download all of them. This obviously became a problem with each item. They also claim to be able to track your child’s progress. This isn’t accurate. You can see what your child sees in the app. No progress, no data, etc. I emailed to company a while back about this and didn’t receive a response. My kids enjoyed it, however didn’t learn very much. Looking for a new app...
  • Garbage

    By bobbyov1
You have to put a credit card in just to get a trial of it. I’ve been falsely charged so many times, I just delete the app right away if the first thing they’re interested in is my credit card. Garbage app

I was promised a free trial and decided not to purchase a subscription. I cancelled before the free trial was over but it automatically charged me for the next month and I couldn’t get it refunded. What a con. Never believe free trials. I learned my lesson and it wasn’t how to read.
  • Glitchy

    By Laurellove
My sons iPad was super glitchy with this app and then I downloaded it on my iPhone X and it is not displaying properly. I wanted to be able to use this app at home and on the go for learning but it’s just leaving me frustrated. Not only that but every single time we reopen the app it asks us to back sign back in. My kid is not going to be able to do that on his own each time he wants to use it. Of course I can do it for him but I wanted this to be an app he would want to play on his own. When the app wasn’t glitching he was enjoying it.
  • My child is actually learning

    By kfischbacher
Homer is a program I stumbled upon and am glad I did. My son is in speech and needed something that focused on the letters and their sounds. Homer does that and is systematic about it. I love seeing him grow!

  • Disappointed

    By Mommymikami
The app it’s self is great! I think it’s engaging and fun and really is a great tool to help my daughter read. But this app never works!! I’m paying for it and it doesn’t work. I’m upset that I barley even used it last month. I even deleted it and reinstalled it. It’s a gamble if it works.
  • LOVE THIS!!!

    By Boy Moms Rock
My daughter loves this app!! Tech support helped us with the crashing problem! Super fast responses!!! Thanks!!!!
  • Force closes

    By Shammy Jay Hawbbzziiee
Was an amazing app until the update, which made the app force close every time you try to open it now. Literally the stars are for how Good the app was before the update.
  • I had no idea my son was this close to reading!

    By mamaBabr
My kid is only 3.5 and we read to him every night but I never really pushed him to sound things out or write on his own. Then he started playing around on this app and he’s SO INTO IT! He is really starting to recognize “sight words” and tries spelling and sounding out words in our nighttime stories. The letters he’s tracing on the screen look awesome. The breaks he gets to draw and play along his “pathway” give him the break that keeps us BOTH more comfortable with this early learning. He’s having fun and I can see progress, this is screen time I honestly don’t feel any mom guilt about.
  • Unauthorized withdrawals

  • Awesome educational app for 2-7 year olds

    By martinja1210
My 5 year old loves this app! I’ve been pleasantly surprised to see him choose and request Homer over non educational games! I highly recommend this app it’s totally worth every cent!
  • Great App

    By Steelyoubough
I have had a great experience with the app. However, when it came time to not renew membership or just not pay the following month I can’t seem to get my account deactivated. So if I could get some insight on how to deactivate the account it would be appreciated.
  • Not good experience

    By JCStrader
My kid used on iPad, but one day it’s stuck. No matter what I did:reset, upgrade the iOS or the app, it’s just stuck on iPad. It’s stuck about 2 months, and today I remembered, so finally unsubscribed it.
  • Misleading

    By Gooseberrybaby
The app says there’s a free trial. It then allows you to set up a profile for your kid, then once everything is ready the app asks for your payment details to continue. A free trial means you shouldn’t request payment detail. Also, if you are going to do so, payment details should be requested up front so you don’t waste people’s time.
  • 5 year old loves it!

    By CCBatt
Such a fun resource for my 5 year old. He really enjoys playing/learning.
  • Won’t work

    By Hxyhxuv
I wish I could give this app a try. It doesn’t move from the “starting free month” loading page. It’s just loads forever with out doing anything else. I’ve tried removing the app and downloading several times but it does the same thing.
  • Not adaptive to the child

    By TheAllatif
I gave it a 3 because my pre-k/K child does enjoy the app; however, it can and should be better. For example, he initially selected the incorrect answer on every try of an exercise and it still allowed him to go on to the next exercise. 1. There should be a minimum number (3 or 4) of consecutive correct answers before they are able to move on to the next exercise. This will ensure the child has at least some grasp of the concept. 2. Since the exercise is focusing on a particular letter, make everything in that exercise about that specific letter, including the drawing and create-your-own story portion.

  • Review

    By 5jo!
So my child likes it, I think more than ABC mouse. But thought I read that it didn’t need to have WiFi, but it’s looking as if it does. Why do games don’t have to have WiFi and something good for a child does? Sad about that any way overall it a very good tool. Maybe I’m of the few that don’t have internet 🤷🏽‍♀️ in time. Thank you But thought I read that it could have been on a review don’t remember.
  • Not loading

    By BigMamaWalker
Paid for the app and after a few days it won’t load. I’ve tried deleting it and redownloading it but it still has the loading circle and nothing happens. What’s up with that?
  • The app keeps freezing

    By oisell
We have had multiple issues with this app freezing or just turning itself off. No internet issues, just the app which is very frustrating for my 2.5 and 4.5 yr olds. It also appears that you have updated the apple app but not the android version. We have both. We will not continue our subscription if the app is not consistent and keeps closing and freezing - not a good way for kids to learn
  • Good app so far

    By hcsbjfvjk
I just downloaded but my daughter likes this app so far . But I was trying to figure out if there is a way that I can check her process on my login . And most of the time when she’s on it I will be at work and she will be at camp since school is almost over.
  • Successfully achieving a passion

    By Mama HD
My four-year-old has cousins and friends who love to read, so he asked if he too could learn. I sought after this app in hopes of continuing his passion for reading and the skills required to read. As a four-year-old, he's learning at his own pace and making progress each day we use the app. We celebrated the little successes daily until he reaches his goal of reading.
  • Awesome

    He loves it
  • Stopped working back in April

    By Dima78
When the software worked, I did like it. However, it stopped working (cannot access My Path) in April and after contacting the customer support multiple times (including sending a video of the problem), it is still not resolved. I tried reinstalling the app many times, tried iPhone, IPad, resetting both devices and still have the same problem. The support told me that they can reproduce the problem but unable to solve it. Anyway, I think this is not acceptable for an app that requires monthly subscription fee. I will give it one more week and if the issue is still not resolved, I will be removing the app.
  • Can not delete this app!!

    By halpow
I downloaded for free trial to try, didn’t like it and tried to delete. I can not get it off my phone and have been charged TWICE now!! Ive emailed and tried contacting in multiple ways, no one has responded to me and been over a month! DO NOT DOWNLOAD UNLESS YOU'RE READY TO BE CHARGED! I’m still hoping someone contacts me to get a refund, two now! And I hope someone tells me how to get this app away from me, off my cloud and stop charging me please!
  • Won’t load since update

    By Mom2Violette
My daughter has been using this app for years to help with reading as a homeschooler. But since the most recent update this week, the app refuses to load at all. We just get an endless loading screen. We ha e tried on mobile data and on WiFi. So our net source is NOT the problem. It’s the app itself since the update. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY. We are using an iPhone SE so the phone isn’t the issue either as the app is fully compatible with this phone model.
  • It was terrible It

  • Fantastic.

    By MassageMom16
Although I am not sure why it says ages 4 plus , my son is 2 1/2 and loves Homer. He is an extremely intelligent little guy , so I often find it hard to challenge him . He is constantly asking to “ play with Homer “ , and is being challenged with letters , numbers , shapes , and a constant variety so he doesn’t get bored. Worth the $7.99 so far !!
  • Too sloooow loooaaadiiiing

    By Habagat0791
I don’t know if the paid app is fast in loading but the trial version can make u give up using this app. Very slow to not loading at all. I dont know if they designed it that way to make you buy the app but it effects the opposite way. Find another as am I.
  • Always freezing

    By marq50
My daughter want to play Homer taps the app chooses her profile then the game decides to freeze. Can not choose anything and the music just plays while she starts to fiercely tap everything to see if anything works. Still nothing so I end turning if off. Don’t think it’s worth the money if you can’t play and learn.
  • This App didnt work for me

    By rash2905

  • Keeps crashing

    By nomoads
Loved this app, but latest version keeps crashing... can’t even get lessons to start anymore
  • Fantastic program for my children

    By Andrew.d.orton
Homer is educational and fun for the children. For my little kids, it includes all areas of English: sounds, letters, books, and more. Homer then puts those building blocks in a way that makes sense to the kids. When I can’t teach them, I can trust that Homer will do it right. My kids now request to use Homer on a regular basis. Plus, the price was right. Thanks Homer for putting this program out there for my children!
  • Child Loves It

    By Bee144
Update: iPad Pro 11” support has been added! No more ugly black bars. Thank you for listening and quickly implementing support. This app is now worthy of 5 stars. My child loves it! Original comment: I would give 5 stars but for a monthly subscription, I would hope to see the latest devices supported. App has ugly black bars and doesn’t make full use of our 11” iPad Pro (gen 3) screen. It’s been out for 7 months and I thought Apple required all devs to support XS Max and 11” iPP starting March 27th?
  • Beware - don’t sign up!

    By amy fg
I signed up for a free month and could never cancel my membership. This company will never stop collecting your money. Don’t give them your credit card.
  • Faslse charges

I was changed for this app but never approved the purchase
  • Buggy, poor support

    By Raudesign
I saw good reviews and decided to give this a try. I really wanted this app to be a fun way for my children to learn. But first, I have to say I don’t see any innovation here. Everything on the app I’ve seen so far can be done on traditional media. It could have been a good idea for kids who has no access to books and activities, only if the app is not so poorly made. It does not function the way it should too often. My child’s ‘Pathway’ was stuck for days and support took days to respond. Then they asked me my device info etc. which was automatically generated on their support ticket (I’m using a 2018 iPad Pro). Support responded to my general questions, but they couldn’t fix the app. Following their generic fix-all instructions involves reinstalling the app—which we did and caused my child to lose all her progress and she had to start over again. She didn’t mind the first time but it happened again! The app overall feels very clunky and not user friendly. For example, the horrible paint function. It’s like a downgrade to the 90’s MS Paint—except that they faithfully replicated the hard pixel circle paint brushes AND spray can. The sticker option is a major break through but they don‘t even bother making them behave like stickers—so stickers behave like brushes! You can tell the quality and how little love they put into the product. It’s also very unthoughtful when the child made a mistake, say writing a letter, it’s just a repeat of an interruptible audio clip of “Start with the big green dot”. The on-screen interaction isn’t smooth and instructive either. Which means if your child doesn’t get it, you’ll hear “Start with start with start start start with the big start with the big green dot!” And it’s a learning app, not a DJ app. For those who are not familiar with software production and user experience design, what I mean is that this app is a rough, low-quality frame smashed together, stuffed with contents for children. What parents today need is a well designed learning experience for the family or the kids alone. While the software, user experience, and support are of low quality, I can’t say much about the contents. There seems to be some branded contents and there may be real educators in the team—but for the few days of the month when the app works, we didn’t get exposed to much of the contents. Good thing we’re on free trial, because the overall experience is poor and we couldn’t follow the main curriculum on the ‘Pathway’ more than half the month. I just cancelled my trial subscription, while support is taking their time to respond to me.
  • Love it!

    By chifiz
Definitely educational! My son who just turned 4 years old already knows how to spell cat!
  • cancel subscription

    By twit/fb
I am trying to cancel my subscription and it is very difficult. My membership ends on May 5th and I absolutely do not want to autorenew and there was no “cancel subscription” option when I go through the settings tab.
  • I am in love

This is by far the best child’s app that I have come across in the App Store. My son is two years old (he turned two April 14th) and he loves this app. He learned his colors within two weeks thanks to your application. He grabs his phone on his own and goes straight to this app without me having to force him to do so. I can’t take the phone away from either so that means y’all have exceeded your intended purpose. This app is Worth the money too. We both look forward to your new updates. I am a happy mama. Thankyou homer reading.
