  • No support for direct POP3 email

    There is still no support for direct POP3 email like *ALL email clients* worldwide. Even Outlook PC email app/client supports direct POP3. This is a blocking issue for small business and home accounts, and the only workaround adds operational *and* security risks (bad idea: have all POP3 route through an additional email server via that Microsoft operates.) Microsoft always used to support direct POP3 email, and still does in ALL other email clients, but they failed on the IOS version. Lame. I’m serious when I say that I could port the missing email transport to support direct POP3 in a weekend. The MICROSOFT IOS Outlook Team needs to correct this deliberate failure in their client for small business and hone accounts.

    Nice interface, but inability to get meeting / event object data from emails into the calendar creates much more work than the nice interface justifies. Will be uninstalling the app soon.....

  • Need Notifications Per Device Not Account

    Update: This HAD been corrected. As of yesterday Sept 12 2019 it was back to 1 device getting the notification tone, excluding my desktop! I need notifications to work properly on all devices I am logged into regardless of how many are active simultaneously! Generally I am accessing my business account via Outlook on my desktop PC or laptop. However, I also have Outlook on my business and personal cell phone. The problem? I routinely get a new mail notification on my business cell phone. The desktop version very rarely sounds the notification alert. My personal cell phone never. Yes all of my settings are correct. If being logged into the same account on too many devices has something to do with it, then could you please provide a LOG OUT option on the iOS mobile app???

    I used to really enjoy the Outlook app for iPhone, but after several months of frustration, I have finally removed it and gone back to Gmail. The source of my frustration is Outlook's seemingly monthly "disconnection" from my email accounts. The app will just stop downloading mail for no apparent reason. I have contacted Outlook's support and they have always responded quickly with something along the lines of "we are experiencing connectivity issues with Gmail accounts and we don't know when it will be resolved." I love having my calendar and email in 1 place, but if I can't get my mail, what's the point?

    I can’t respond to company emails without the html signature because it looks unprofessional. Please update the app to include this 🙏🏻 I can’t reply or compose emails on my phone to anyone in my company without it. Huge pitfall.

    For whatever reason, I don't have the option to close certain attachments and go back to the inbox. Even when I close the screen all together, when I reopen app- still has attachment open. It's really annoying so I've just been using the safari browser.

    I liked Outlook on iOS initially. But after not using certain accounts after a certain period Outlook automatically removed them. Sorry but I do use the desktop outlook for work most of the time and use to like getting notifications on the app. Now I have to set up the account again and I have to remember to ping this app so it will not delete the account. After the second time it happened I just gave up on the app and used the iOS mail. At least it doesn’t delete accounts automatically.

    IMPROVED: The long-promised and long-awaited monthly view has been a real improvement and nudged me into actively using this app again. Good job, MS. If only my iOS calendar could be fully synced, so that I didn’t have to use two calendars, one for work and one for home. (Apple fences off this app from full iCloud integration, unless you invoke Apple’s ill-running, constipated, two-factor authentication across the entire Apple system.) BUT, THE MAIL: Ever since the July 2017 redesign the app continues to be worse than the elegant native iOS app; and, now that my hospital has moved from the MS mobile web to Office 365, work mail no longer goes to the iOS app but goes here first. It’s awful. The 2017 update degraded the purchased Acompli build to a laborious, clunky mail experience with a sliding shelf that hides needed views and adds steps: e.g., it takes 12 steps with a nauseating, flashing shelf to go from the Inbox, check two sub-folders, and return to the Inbox; or, 8 steps to survey the number of emails in four accounts. The app needs an opening screen that gives an intuitive and quick-to-grasp overview. Toward that goal, (1) badge each mail account icon with the number of emails, rather than a useless dot; and, (2) make the default view for an account an overview rather than the Inbox so that folders are not buried several steps deep. Finally, with that same 2017 update, the different Gmail accounts were suddenly labeled only with the Google “G,” making them indistinguishable from each other. When customer howling awakened slumbering Microsoft, the make-shift patch was mail identified by non-customizable, ugly colored circles with initials. (Don’t be fooled by the attractive picture of “Add all your accounts” under “Preview.) AESTHETICS: Speaking of ugly, the app much needs a toggle-off switch for the unprofessional, inaccurate icons, as Google calendar offers for its likewise juvenile artwork. Who wants, for example, a molar icon for “dental surgery”; a graduation cap with tassel appearing for an “eye exam” appointment — Are you kidding me?; or, a “telephone” to appear when you’re “On-Call” at the hospital? SUMMARY: (1) Good calendar, internal search engine and integration with Office software. (2) Problems remain from the poor 7/17 mail redesign. (3) A professional app needs to be more sleek and elegant, and less cutesy (e.g., sliding shelf; goofy icons). (4) The widget is attractive but only shows the current day, so is not much help.

    I depend on my emails to assign jobs to my technicians in an extremely timely manner as well as obviously reply to my clients. The push notifications are not working and haven't been working for over 2 weeks. I reset my phone twice thinking it was the device, but it is isn’t. I went to settings and did the push test, but that isn't working either.

    Instead of creating cute little dots with initials next to every piece of email that do nothing, how about creating a way to block emails or report phishing to Microsoft. How about creating a way to indicate importance of an email ? People been asking that for years and all we get a stupid little colored dots.

    I use this app for school to connect to my teachers and classmates. Outlook is very organized and easy to use.. I’ve never had an issue. Classic email platform that works very well. App is very useful too.
  • Not for more than casual use

    I have been using Outlook for years since my company adopted it. This year they turned off active sync and switched everyone onto outlook as the mobile mail and calendar program. I have this on my iPad Pro and iPhone. The program is slow, non-intuitive and frequently falls out of synchronized with my laptop and desktop. I have missed numerous meetings and emails due to this. The updates to my calendar are so slow it is frequently faster to walk back to my desk and use my desktop. Active sync updates were essentially real time and far superior to this App. I recommend avoiding this program and platform.

    I got this app to alert me when I have emails on my work email as I am not always any a computer at work. However, the app does not send me notifications even though I have them turned on! Fix this!
  • Poor / Terrible Integration

    I am totally convinced there will be finger pointing from Microsoft, Apple, the Developers, etc.... all claiming it is the other’s fault. Or its just a 365 issue. Or it is your corporate IT department. BUT.... and here is the thing.... I DON’T CARE. The whole Office 365 environment is like stepping back 15 years in productivity. There are connection issues. Synch issues. Authentication issues. Heck... I don’t even know if what I am working on, whether I will ever be able to retrieve it. I have actually uninstalled this app, and refused to let it access my personal devices. I simply cannot afford more issues. I am not a MS hater. I love NT and the older office apps. But just because MS is preaching cloud and security to increase its market capitalization, doesn’t mean this is a good experience. Ahh the days of blackberry!

  • Slow to launch

    Lately it seems Outlook has been slow to launch. I have a handful of emails in my Inbox, around 70 at the moment. It takes around 7 seconds for the splash loading screen to disappear, then another 7 or so for message syncing to complete. It’s just noticeably slow on my iPhone X. Looking for alternatives again.

    My biggest gripe is that I did an update on the app and it changed my professional signature line to “Get Outlook for iOS” I sent messages for 3 days before I realized it. When you’re a key employee or business owner trying to maintain your brand, having your signature line that you took time to develop only to have it changed to an advertisement for your email provider or the app you are using is a joke.

    This product is supposed to work between my iPhone and my pc outlook (the pc outlook developed issues with iCloud in the latest upgrade by design?). Spoken to everyone one I can at Microsoft and it doesn’t seem be a big deal for them if I do away with our corporate email and let them carry it for an increase in cost it will work hum. So as a very very small company 200 stations we will now be going to Mac books (sadder then the day I got rid of my Android) easy come easy go I guess.

  • Formatting looks embarrassingly bad

    The app works well enough most the time but the way fonts, spacing and overall formatting looks to recipients on a regular computer mac/pc looks awful and inconsistent. Sometimes spacing looks off, fonts looks different and wrong size, the line that separates messages at the bottom looks unsightly. I cannot use this app because it makes emails look too ugly and non-professional to business recipients.

    This used to be a great app. Over the last few releases, I have experienced a ton of bugs. Calendar display issues, sync issues and now delete performance issues. The lock screen view works at time and errors out at times. This app team has lost its way.
  • One major fail-contact list is terrible

    It’s a great app except it depends on using your iOS contact list and doesn’t sync with outlook online. I wanted a email client that was completely separate from the iOS client, especially contacts. I use outlook for business purposes and didn’t want to accidentally send email to wrong person that was in my iOS contact list. Not that not that, but if you have groups st up, it doesn’t bring them over.

    I love using outlook but I’m currently having an issue where the app will not connect to onedrive to allow attachment of files. There is a work around by giving your iPhone files app access to onedrive and searching though that application but ultimately this is an issue. I’ve been waiting a week for support to work on a solution but all feedback I receive is standard check internet connection etc. doesn’t look like they’re going to fix it any time soon. Other than that outlook is the best email app I’ve found so far and I’ve used a lot of them. Very happy so far with this one blemish keeping me from the five star rating. Attaching files seamlessly is important to me.

    I hate it when apps think they know better what you want or need, and as a result, remove options... why the he** can’t I just see all the emails in my inbox in a folder labeled “in box”? (What a novel idea) ...I see no way to escape the automatic sorting to “focused” box and “other”.... Leave those as an option if you want, but let me choose to see all of them in one inbox if I so choose... just a poorly set up email app..

    There are so many great features in this app they help me stay productive! The ability to move promotions and emails by annoying clients to another’s folder is spectacular! I have long been a user of Yahoo! Mail, Gmail and the native (uninspired) ios mail Addition to various email applications, but this is my favorite by far! The outlook mail is unique in that it gives a high degree of customer customization such a signature use archive and collection. Although I would not use this application for all my email particularly when I’m looking at working with a freelance client, I enjoy using this email to browse through promotions, my school work, and my personal notifications. Some features I would prefer to see in this app would include stacking emails, and sending emails which is only seems to be available in native apps, and a better way to organize contacts Rather than giving a long list. However, this app is my new go to app for most of my emails!
