    I’ve been using PIA for a little less than a year now and have been really happy with it. However in the past month I’ve had a lot of issues with connection, to the point that i did not use it at all for a few weeks. The other day just to give it a try i went ahead and uninstalled then reinstalled. This fixed all my issues and it has been working better than ever since. I think there may be some issue with the update process that is causing an updated app to be unable to connect.

    With all the hacking and bad news we hear about people whose had their lives turned inside out because of malicious net activity. PIA gives me that piece of mind. Just run the install from the app and it's flawless. Perfect on the PC as well. Need to investigate Chrome OS, but it seems like this company really has their technology worked out in a way you can trust. 3 Cheers to you!
  • Slow servers, poor customer support, no refunds

    After getting only 20mb down on a 500mb connection for over a month I contacted support. They had me jump through a ton of hooks using copy and paste templates that were completely unrelated to the problem. If I get 20mbps on my phone and laptop how does adjusting my laptops firewall solve the slowness on my iPhone? They refused to prorate a refund. Their “automatic” server selection tool connects me to Boston USA almost 100% of the time when I am in EU. They also use the Comcast model of only offering the best price to new customers. Renewal? Pay double and no refunds whatsoever. The irony is palpable given their service is designed to combat the isp’s privacy practices lol. There are other providers that don’t throttle their customers like Comcast does, I’ll be switching as soon as I’m able.

    Their response below shows how clueless they are: “Bad customer support? Contact customer support!” “Fox stealing eggs? Hire the fox to guard the henhouse!” Sheesh. I asked over and over again for a manager to contact me, and ... crickets. Their response below helps prove the point that they do not want to admit or cannot even comprehend what the issue is — even after the explanation in my review and after dozens of emails back and forth with their customer “support”. Dealing with them is like dealing with someone who denies that something as plainly evident as gravity exists ... and then (after arduous explanations of what should be presupposed) having them still deny it over and over again — despite it being evident to anyone with common sense. They play dumb so as to not ever issue a refund. They are glad to steal mistakenly duplicate payments. ————- Let me moderate my comments below (===). I cannot impute to the entire company the actions of a couple of retarded “customer support” reps unless the company condones their actions. Basically I wanted to renew my yearly subscription at the end of 2018 and tried via the PIA app to renew and it didn’t work via PIA’s in-app purchase (no credentials sent and “pending” for days), so I made the purchase directly on the PIA website while also sending a support ticket to PIA asking them to not bill me for the “pending” in-app purchase that did not work. The in-app purchase however still processed about 6 days later resulting in a double charge (about $80) for a yearly subscription. When I tried to “report a problem” with this in-app purchase, Apple’s automated system kept referring me back to the developer to resolve this issue. I contacted PIA. The issue was plain as day and evident, but the customer support at PIA pretended it was not evident and would not credit either one of the two charges for only the single subscription I wanted. After many email exchanges (you cannot call them) displaying unbelievable idiocy or dishonesty on PIA’s part (denials and evasions of what was plain as day), I then finally in desperation reached out to a live person at Apple who — unlike PIA customer “support” — immediately saw the plain-as-day problem and immediately credited the in-app App Store purchase from PIA. The PIA customer support agents apparently need a good flogging 😉 for being either liars or idiots, and then fired. ============= (previous review below) That says it all. Their customer support is seemingly populated with no one but idiots, liars, or cheats. In my experience it is despicable company without an ounce of integrity. Been a customer of the service for many years, but after my recent experience with their “customer support” I could only in my opinion dissuade anyone from doing business with them. Unbelievable.

  • Drains battery on iPhone

    This app drains the battery on my iPhone fairly quickly. I turn the PIA off and charged the phone. After turning off the PIA, the battery usage is back to normal. The iOS is up to date and it has a new battery so now I know there is something wrong with that PIA app that is causing my phone to drain much quicker. PIA, please look into this and update it.

    Avoid! Despite PIAs general reviews as a decent VPN service, they double billed me for 9 months. When I alerted them to this fact, they refused to reimburse me. When I asked how it was possible to bill someone for two subscriptions despite both being on the same email address, they said that sometimes people like to have two accts with same address. I had simply tried to retrieve a login for my (single) acct, not understanding that this is the only business I’ve ever heard of that allows customers to sign up twice on the same email address without alerting them to the fact they are setting up a second subscription. They are refusing to refund me and their customer service is atrocious based on an email only ticketing service. I am not an experienced VPN user and they have exploited me. I am disgusted.

    This app works fine, but if I leave the house it trashed my internet and nothing works, the app then refuses to connect again. If they fixed this issue then it would be 5 stars, but this is a deal breaker to me. You can’t have privacy if the website/app your using is going to get your real ip as soon as you turn off The vpn just so basic internet will work.

    The app is great and works as advertised. The issue I have is the splash screen is blinding white even on dark mode. If I cold start this app at night it melts my eyes. Suggestion - if dark mode is enabled, have a dark splash screen

    The most common problem after reading through reviews is that you’ll never receive a login detail when you pay for a yearly subscription, and if you’re charged to your iTunes account being funded by an iTunes gift card you’ll never get a refund it’s a whole lot of money, I created a ticket and after asking me to get a refund from Apple and Apple referred me back to them they stopped responding to my emails...BIG SCAM DON’T SUBSCRIBE FOR A YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION AND THE “COULDN’T GET MY PLAN” LINK ON THE APP DOESN’T WORK

    The VPN service is great, end to end AES-128 encryption makes for a very robust VON connection and works great on Windows 10. However on iOS the VPN connection drops randomly and refuses to reconnect forcing me to disable the VPN to get internet connection and breaking security protocols by exposing my normal IP to the internet.

    What is going on PIA management I don’t understand you guys....I just subscribed 39.99$ which is a year plan of your vpn and the money has been deducted from my ITunes account instantly and I have been given receipt yet you guys won’t email me the credentials to me so I can login I used the app to subscribe just today and since several hours which I have contacted support no responds nothing has been done about this..is this a scam or what I have clicked on couldn’t get my plan millions times on the app too still nothing am beginning to get mad right now if you don’t email me the credentials responds to me instantly else there will be trouble.

    I use PIA on my MacBook and it’s more than I could ever ask for, but it just refuses to stay connected on my iPhone 8 12.1.2 and literally all earlier versions. I will connect through the app and then through my system settings and it just turns turns off after a brief period. Any help would be appreciated.

    Tested speed with VPN on and off. I have Verizon Fios 100/100. Download speed when on is 36. When off is 96. (Tested 5x). Not good.

    Love the app but the recent update appears to have removed the ping times for the various server location choices. Why? That number is one of the main criteria when picking a server! Please bring it back.

    Overall it’s very easy to use and works almost all the time. The only time their is an issue is if you are going from a WiFi network to a cellular network. The app with hang up at connecting and never reconnect. This does not happen when going from cellular to WiFi and has been an issue now for a few months. If this gets fixed the app would be amazing as it stands I don’t plan on renewing service when it is time.

    I used to swear by this VPN. But the last few days I have been having connection problems. Not only on laptop but iPhone as well. I completely gave up running it on my desktop. I have been a subscriber since 2016 and don’t recall ever having this many issues. Maybe time to look elsewhere.
