I get a notification saying I have an unfinished survey ready for me to complete. I click on the notification and the app launches, and the Ancestry loading icon just spins and spins. Please fix this issue as it may be a bug and it is very annoying.
  • Don’t pay for “Traits”

I love ancestry DNA. But the traits thing is a complete rip off. Told me nothing of substance. Was wrong about basically everything. Don’t buy it, but I endorse ancestry dna otherwise.

I have to say how impressed I am with this project! To find out where my ancestors were from is extraordinary! Some I knew for sure and some were a complete surprise! Thank you AncestryDNA for this chance to discover more about my family!
  • Somewhat interesting

I was excited to do this, and the results essentially mirror what I expected. Unfortunately, there are three overlapping maps and no explanation or percentage estimates for how my DNA matches to the different maps. It would be nice to know if my ancestry was 100% from the bigger map, 80% from the smaller map, etc. Sounds like others have received that kind of info. but I did not. Also, buyers should be aware that when you buy the kit and nothing else, all you get is basically a map or set of maps, and some basic Wikipedia- type info. that is generic to that particular region, which is fine, but I guess I was expecting something more.
  • Interestingly Lame

I was excited to purchase this app to learn more from my Ancestry DNA results. Ironically, none of the responses I gave matched what my DNA should have shown. Each item has a disclaimer stating that the genes can be different than what the science shows they should be. Really? And the purpose of this app is what exactly? Each item you answer the question they ask, eye color, hair color, does asparagus make your pee stink, do you have a cleft chin, etc. For every one (no exception) of my responses, and I know myself pretty well, the answer was that my response does not match the science. Example: I have brown hair but I should have dark hair. I have green eyes but I should have blue eyes, etc. Each item was a non-match! How’s that possible? Didn’t learn anything new about myself that I didn’t know before buying this app. Waste of $9.99 for me. I hope your experience is better than mine.

I’m not sure what, I was expecting, so I’m not sure if I’m disappointed. Haven’t really had time to dig into it.

Things take quite a long time to load and upload. Seems like I should be linking to more people that I actually know I am related to as well. You really have to work your butt off to get results and sift through the nonsense even when you buy the top tier membership. I am thankful for what I have found but man is it a ton of work!

Suddenly I cannot log into the app yet I can log in on my laptop and I can log in to the Ancestry app here on my phone. This AncestryDNA app for some odd reason will no longer work for me. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Same problem comes back with the message telling me uh oh something went wrong.

I’m well on my search. There’s so much to learn and do. I need to learn how to correct my mistakes—like entering the same person several times in my family tree. I need to eliminate the duplicates. I need to learn how to correct information from historical records—like where someone interpreted handwriting wrong and came up with an erroneous Last Name. Well, I’ll motor on! —break’o’day
  • Reports appear rudimentary to me

    By Jorist2
I have used both 23andMe and AncestryDNA. AncestryDNA reports appear much less useful to me. Less informative. Less detailed. Less visual. The only redeeming factors were the number of matches I had on AncestryDNA and the link back to the Ancestry.com family trees. Now however my 23andMe matches are now exceeding AncestryDNA and the ability to link DNA matches to my family tree is becoming available in their app. I am a huge fan of Ancestry.com and really wish they would step up their game instead of just riding on their historic reputation. If they aren’t more innovative they will quickly be left in the dust as other companies are more innovative, user friendly and cost effective.

  • Poor

    1
    By JimInNewYork
Poor at best. Slow to load on either Apple or Android platform with the latest operating systems on both. Will not respond on Samsung S9+ with the latest operating system. Ancestry itself is a poor entity compared to 23andMe foe example. Their analysis is more stable and their app much more responsive. These folks might claim being #1 but there are much better apps and DNA services. Check out LDS data for research...it’s free and just as good.

Two of my nieces shows as first cousin. I assume some of the other relatives are off mark too. Besides this most other info is correct.

It gave basic origination of genetic line and timeline of migration. Honestly didn’t seem enough information for the cost.

The process is easy and I was kept up to date during the process. Then the results were here before I knew it. I was reading about myself. And possible other relatives. My journey is just starting.

I started the tree before I did the DNA test. My migration that I found was mostly from the North East, where my mom was from. But it only showed where my dads Family migrated to you. Which was true. So I’m a little confused and I don’t feel like there’s enough data to back up everything. Very disappointed.

  • This DNA test was inaccurate!

    2
    By Mb loves the sword
It excluded large portions of my ancestry. AncestryDNA was not right by half on my physical characteristics! If I was guilty of a crime I’d be off the hook in their book! It also only listed 2 of the 5 blood related family members who took the test with me!
  • Thank you

This was awe inspiring to find out where my past relatives where from. It was worth the cost . Enjoyed the matches.
  • I’m not sure if I 100% percent agree with this app because

    2
    By RosalvaR
It only sets that I 1% percent African and and it doesn’t even say that I’m Asian and it doesn’t show a few things that my other people in my family are I just think it needs to be updated.
  • Very slow

    1
    By MKalpha
The app tells you your sample was received, but they don’t tell you that it means at a warehouse and still has to be shipped off to another lab for testing. Mine was received 2 weeks ago and still has not been tested. When I called I was told it will be another 2 weeks to a month before I would get the results. They should state all of this on the product.
  • Where did my Italian genes go?

    2
    By Kaylabeth
After this new update to the database, my DNA estimate no longer includes ANY Italian or Croatian DNA and I know for a fact that my great-great-grandparents emigrated from Italy... This makes no sense. My Italian genes are now being substituted for Russian? I’ve traced my lineage back about 400 years and NOT ONE person in my tree is Russian? I’m very confused.
  • Wrong data

    1
    By #imitalian
I am 50% pure Italian and you don’t even have it as 1%!
  • What happened to the app?

    1
    By Brooklyn Colada
So I just did the update, and clicked on my app on my phone... and nothing. Just the picture of the Ancestry logo... I’m waiting for my results and am going to be super angry if I’m not going to be able to view it!! What’s going on? Isn’t the whole point of a update to make sure that a frozen screen isn’t going to happen?!
  • Ridiculously Long Processing Time!

They’ve had my sample for 3 weeks and have not even started processing it! I also have used 23 And Me- I received results in 10 Days!
