    App is very problematic. With cellular data turned off, I can immediately see the user control to display the downloads and quickly start a downloaded movie playing. However, the app crashes every 3 minutes. With cellular data turned on, when in a low signal area, the Showtime logo is displayed, but that's as far as it ever gets. App and phone are up to date, and rebooting the phone didn't help. Also, landscape mode only works with charging port to the left, which isn't the case with most video apps. Maybe that could also be improved upon.

    Showtime has hosted some of my favorite shows. However, the past 6 months they are more focused on making a political stance than on releasing good new series. Even Shameless Season 9 was a measly 7 episodes?? And of course all focused on political crap. How about finding the next Californication or Dexter? I mean 1 good political piece here and there is fine there’s an obvious trend here and I’m personally turned off. As a result, I put my subscription on hold until enough episodes build up on shows I actually watch then I pay for a month just for a week of use. Disappointing.

    It’s not easy to pick up where you left off when watching a series using an IPhone XR. It tries to play the newest episode in the series first. To find where you left off, you have to guess. Be nice if it would just load the next episode based on what’s been watched.

    Compared to Showtime’s poor website this app isn’t half bad. But like the website, it’s clear there have been minimal resources committed to this app. It’s impossible to go to your recently watched shows without going there manually. The downloaded shows bug out and force you to restart the app. There is no good fast forward button, neither is there anything to skip the recap/intro. These changes are manageable but in this day and age they are very basic design flaws that could easily be taken care of if Showtime spent any money on it.

    I only use showtime for boxing and every once in a while I’ll watch a movie so it’s really cool. The app is awesome BUT it would be really cool if they updated the app so you can watch full screen on the iPhone X. Other than that the app is really cool.

    The Showtime app is great but here are some suggestions for user interface improvements: Netflix app allows you to preview the scene when scrolling to the desired area of the show/movie. It would be good to have a similar option.

    Don’t have reliable internet at home so love the download aspect of the app. I see areas to improve like adding a favorites in so you can get to your shows quicker. I also mirror my phone to tv and it takes a few tries to get it to work.

    I uninstalled this app and forgot to unsubscribe and then I payed what I owed and then unsubscribed and then a few days later it charged me again I payed it because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to update my apps and it’s charged me again and now it’s getting annoying

    I tried to cancel before it charged my card; but when I tried to cancel it, it said it was already inactive and I couldn’t get into my account. Well here it is two days later and if charged me and I wanted to do away with it not pay for it.

    I got a deal with signing up with Spotify where I also have access to Hulu and showtime if I was a student. I made my account and entered my log in information but when I signed in, it brought me back to the “Sign Up” screen and instead of the “Log In” option it was just changed to “Sign Out” rendering the app useless. I tried resetting, reinstalling the app, and both by deleting, resetting my phone, and installing it again.

    I like the selection of shows and movies on showtime, but good lord this app is a stinker. It constantly crashes, just goes black out of nowhere and returns to my home screen at least once if not multiple times while using it. Then to add insult to injury, it makes me sign in all over again. After reentering my password and email, I finally get started back up with what I was watching and it doesn’t even hold my place- it restarts the movie or episode at least 7-10 minutes before the crash. Really annoying when I pay almost as much for this app as I do Netflix. Not worth it at all in my opinion. After I get caught up on the rest of the shows I like, I’m canceling for sure. Hope you guys can fix these issues for the future.

  • Great content, poor app design and flow. No 5.1 surround sound.

    App has poor use of space type of design. It doesn’t support 5.1 surround sound on Chromecast. What year is it ? Why not? Netflix does. HBO does. Your own app on Apple TV does, what gives? Just escalate and flip a switch already. This is why it’s hard for you become the market leader. You DON’T listen to your subscribers. Rather you just give false promises and a year later, no change.

    I personally like showtime's collection of movies and series yet for the app version they have possibly chosen one of the worst interface ever. It's not only glitchy, with prone to "playback failed" error messages whenever you're watching a downloaded series but also tends to crash multiple times. Mind you I use an iPhone X. Also, the interface where you select and play the movies so poorly written as if by a novice programmer. Remember it's not only about the collection but also about the convenience. Please come up with a proper interface.

  • Downloads have problems

    The shows/movies are great and fine and this review has little to do with them. When playing downloaded videos on the app, the app will stop working as often as every 5 minutes, sometimes even (non-intuitively) telling you to connect to the internet. Usually, closing the app will make the videos work again for another 5 minutes but then the whole thing happens again. I sincerely hope this is fixed.

    I’ve always had an issue with this app and streaming, but it’s recently gotten so much worse. I choose to pay for showtime through the app alone so right now, this is going to cause me to cancel the membership. The app disconnects from chrome cast constantly but continues playing on chrome cast. The tv goes in and out attempting to connect while the app indicates it isn’t synced. After trying to sync the two, the tv is further ahead than the app so I have to try and fast forward to get caught back up. By the time I’m caught up again, the app recycles it’s disconnecting which is unreasonably annoying. I hate this app.
